This Privacy Policy explains how Cobern Meir Ltd. ("Cobern Meir," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Eli mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). Eli is an AI companion for Jewish life and learning.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address. Authentication is passwordless (a one-time magic-link code sent to your email) or, where available, through Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple.
- Profile and personalization. A name or nickname you choose, and optional details you share so Eli can respond more personally (for example, a tradition or background you mention).
- Conversations. The messages, prompts, and voice input you send to Eli, and the responses Eli generates, including any scripture you bookmark or conversations you choose to save or share.
- Support communications. Information you provide when you contact us, such as by email.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data. How you interact with the Service — features used, session length, and similar in-app events — used to operate and improve the app.
- Device and technical data. Device type, operating system, app version, language, general region, and identifiers used for push notifications and analytics.
- Subscription data. Your subscription status and entitlements (e.g., whether you have Eli+). Payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play; we do not receive or store your full payment card details.
2. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, maintain, and operate the Service and your account;
- Generate Eli's responses and, for Eli+ members, remember relevant context across conversations so the experience feels continuous;
- Deliver features you enable, such as reminders, the Word of the Day, and the home-screen widget;
- Send you transactional messages (such as magic-link sign-in codes) and, where permitted, occasional updates you can opt out of;
- Understand usage, troubleshoot, and improve the Service;
- Maintain safety and security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
3. AI processing of your conversations
Eli's responses are generated using third-party artificial-intelligence providers. To produce a reply, the content of your conversation (and, for voice, your audio) is sent to these providers for processing. We have engaged these providers as service providers and direct them to use this content only to provide the Service to us.
Eli is a companion for reflection and learning — not a rabbi, posek, therapist, physician, or emergency service. Please do not rely on Eli for halachic rulings, medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice, and never share information you do not wish to be processed by our AI providers.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:
- Service providers. With vendors who process data on our behalf to run the Service, including: AI model and voice providers (to generate responses), email delivery, analytics and attribution, push-notification and cloud-hosting infrastructure, and subscription management. These providers may only use the information to provide services to us.
- App stores. Apple and Google process your subscription purchases and provide us with the resulting entitlement information.
- Legal and safety. When we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
5. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Conversations and personalization data are retained to power features like memory and history until you delete them or close your account. We may retain certain information for longer where required for legal, accounting, security, or fraud-prevention purposes, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of Canada (PIPEDA), the EEA/UK (GDPR), and U.S. states such as California (CCPA/CPRA) have specific rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.
- Within the app. You can edit your profile, manage notification preferences, review history, and delete your account.
- By email. You can exercise any of these rights by contacting us at [email protected]. We will verify your request and respond as required by applicable law.
7. Account & data deletion
You can delete your Eli account and the personal data associated with it at any time:
- In the app: open Settings → Account → Delete account, and confirm. This permanently removes your profile, conversations, and personalization data from our systems, subject to the limited retention described in Section 5.
- By email: if you cannot access the app, write to [email protected] from the email address on your account and ask us to delete your data. We will complete verified deletion requests within 30 days.
Deleting the app from your device does not by itself delete your account data. Subscription cancellation is managed through the App Store or Google Play and is separate from account deletion.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International data transfers
We are based in Canada, and our service providers may process data in Canada, the United States, and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers. By using the Service, you understand your information may be processed in countries with data protection laws different from those in your country.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
